I'm re-building my 1979 Mini 1000 gearbox following the excelent instuctions in the forum.

Mine seems to be a bit of an odd ball. It has the 18mm Mainshaft nose, and the 2 step layshaft of an A+, but the 3rd motion bearing housing has 4 bolts, and the diff thrust washers are just circular with no tabs.

So is it an A or and A+ ?

Seems like it is the product of a previous rebuild, and someone used a mix of parts.

According the MiniSpares catalogue 1979 was the change over. Perhaps Longbridge was using up old parts.

They had a habit of doing things like that, so you are probably correct if it has never been apart before.
