Hi all,

Hoping someone out there can help me out as i'm most confused by my radio!

I was fitting some new lights on the weekend, so disconnected the battery, and ever since then, the radio has been playing up.

It's the standard radio in an 98 MPI and if i put the immobiliser on, next time i take it off to start the car, the radio asks for the code. I put the code in, it works fine for a while, but then randomly cuts out and then requires the code to start it again. As far as i can tell, there is no pattern as to when it cuts out.

I took the radio out yesterday lunch time and took the connections out and put them back in, and the drive home from work yesterday it was fine, but after Id put the immobiliser on overnight, it asked for the code again this morning and cut out intermittently...

Any ideas?!

Pete

Is the constant live still connected? The radio needs a permanent live to retain the code.

Yep, everything is connected as it should be...

Do you think it could just be a dodgy connection?

Thanks, I'll give that a check later.

I took a voltmeter down to the car earlier and the constant live seems to be working fine. The earth connection looked worn and brown like it had been sparking? But that shouldn't cause it to cut out should it?
