Hello

I am trying to remove the brake drum off my mini, and it wont budge. I have made sure the brake shoes are slackened off, and i've been hitting the drum with medium hammer blows (of course with wood in between to soften the blow). I have done this in all directions on the drum, including directly inward so at to try and dislodge it.

But no joy. The other three drums came off without a problem, but not this one. It is the offside front drum.

Could it be rusted to the driving flange? How can I best remove it?

Thanks

John

If the adjusters are backed off, then using a lever between backplate and drum usually does the trick.Keep levering at opposite sides .

And keep hitting it..

Try beating it with a copper/brass mallet rather than a hammer and a piece of wood, you will get more force into the hit without damaging the drum.

Hit it towards the other front wheel on the edge so it levers away the oppososite edge, pivoting on the flange. You might also be able to wedge a thin screwdriver between the drum & flange.

I find the hide hammers best, and you can give it a good whack
