Hi chaps I've just bought a genuine mk1 boot lid with 4 holes for a badge above the number plate holder I'm hoping its for a Morris cooper badge what are the spacings between the pins in the back of the Morris cooper badges. I've asked a few people about the repro ones but they won't seem to line up so I think it will need to be genuine

I'm pretty sure it's Morris as someone's just told me 68mm from the first hole to the second and the same from the 3rd to 4th
Anyone know where I can get a genuine badge from?

That could be a MK2 bootlid, there's a lighter primer patch on the right next to the number plate recess that could have been where the holes were for the engine CC badge, might be worth checking out one like this too

Just measured the 'centre line' distances between the pegs on the rear of my (genuine) Mk2 S badge, the two outer gaps are 68mm apart, the centre gap is 43mm.... so your bootlid definitely has Mk2 badge holes. Is it double skinned...? Late Mk1 and all Mk2* bootlids should be double skinned, with the 'ribbed' inner panel. If it is double skinned, yours could be from a Mk2 Mini 850 or 1000, or Mk2 Cooper 998 or Cooper 1275 S. It's worth rubbing down your bootlid to see if there are any holes under that filler on the r/hand side as Mk1 Coopers says.... the pegs on my '1275' badge are 57mm apart if that helps.

(* although some very late Mk2s had Mk3 bootlids, just to confuse matters!)

Minispares and Somerford do them - Somerford might still have some 'new old stock' plastic inserts with the embossed lettering etc ( later ones are the repro / printed sort) ;D
