Ive currently got a '90 mayfair that I want to keep as standard and I'm planning on building a turbo mini with my next one. My dad thinks I should go for bucket seats and a rool cage because of the extra power but I want to be able to use the car everyday so I want some nice confortable (sensible?) seats such as the gorgeous, inspiring and colour taste boundary pushing blue and red tartan sidewalk seats. They are quite posible the best looking things I have ever seen! :D

How often do you see sidewalk seats and seatbelts for sale secondhand?

I'm trying to decide if I should buy any mini and fit a sidewalk interior or buy a sidewalk.

Thanks

Not cheap, but there is a set on E bay at the moment:

£330! If they can be sold for that then I am best off buying a sidewalk and using that. I'd feel less guilty about modding it aswell, as a lot of purists don't like the later ones

Sidewalk interiors generally get given away as they are awful....

Definite decimal point failure on that ebay add, £33 more likely....

Seriously don't spend any money on one, sooner or later someone will be wanting rid of a set.

Why?

Is it just that no-one likes the colours?

Personally I love the Sidewalk colours but a lot of people don't...

Rover made a big thing of the tartan at the time, including sending the brochure out in a 'tartan' envelope, which I still have.

The Rio, Tahiti and 35 interiors were quite colourful too, though not quite as loud as the Sidewalk.

I have a Rio interior in the shed. They are comfortable, but no good of you are tall as they foul on the bodywork so you can't slide them all the way back. They limit the space in the back too, and are damned heavy when they swing back onto your arm. All reasons I have swapped mine back to Mayfair seats.

I love my Sidewalk seats! They're always popping up on eBay, usually around the £100 mark...
