hi all had my mini on the rolling road today for its tune up at hi-tec and what a difference as soon as i pulled away in it it felt more responsive. really pleased with it as most of you no i have had issues with it cutting out on me when i slow down i told him this and he said its because i was getting to much fuel and the float was sticking open. anyway drove nice on the way back what a difference! anyway here is the results.

the print outs at hi-tech have changed since this time last year, they used to be a really basic looking black and white print that looked like something off ceefax!

however, if im reading that data right, thats almost a 50% power loss through the transmission, i think typically its more like 25%?

i wish i could have hung around today to watch it though, it must have been awesome at 95mph! lol

as for the float sticking, we did have trouble with that previosuly didnt we tom, i changed the lot though and was happy that it wasnt sticking when we put it back together.

still, it should be good to go now!

my dads 998 made 80 bhp on the same rollers..... but it isnt exactly standard.

unless im not undertanding the figures at the bottom it does look like the gearbox is "soaking up" allot of the power, more than normal anyway.

however, if you say its going well now (and i thought it went pretty nicely before hand) then maybe im wrong.

I'm pretty sure that power is per driven wheel. assuming the diff is not differentiating.

I'm pretty sure that power is per driven wheel. assuming the diff is not differentiating.

I can't see a standard (???) 998 having 48.4 bhp

and working on that theory the last time my standard 998 with a pea shooter exhaust had 29.5 bhp at the wheels....

Its not just the gearbox were power is lost though, it's everything that transmits the power to the wheels, including the bearings, brakes, tyres, tyre pressures and even the tracking.
