right before the winter comes even tho it hasnt left yet. i want to sort out why i dont have hot air coming out. its weird because if i leave it of and let the engine get up to tempureture and then turn it on i get hot and then it goes cold and stays like it. we have allready tryed cleaning out the heater box and pipes before we fitted it back in and loads of rusty water come out. but after 30 mins it was running threw clean. i have new heater valve fitted so cant see a problem being that as that pipe gets warm. and the other one is cold? could it be the heater box gone? and is there anything else i could try? could it be a air block?

No Hot Air?

leave it to run up to temperature when the thermoset opens, with the radiator cap off and the heater on full. you might need to run it at a fast idle for a little while but you should feel the heater kicking out nice warm air if all the airs out of the system.

will give it ago i did notice to when the engine was warm i just checked to see if the water level was ok and it gurgled abit . and i thought maybe thats solved it. but no still the same lol. how high would you rev it at?

How old is the heater matrix.......they catch all the crud and even flushing can't always dislodge enough....a new matrix often makes all the difference. Air locks can also prevent flow of hot water through the matrix......best to fill the heater via the heater pipes under the bonnnet at the highest point and then connect them quickly when water flows out so no air is trapped.....works for me.

not by much, you should feel once you pick the revs up (stationary of course) the heater warming up, if you drop the revs back off and the heater goes back to being cold there's still an air lock somewhere and it needs running for a bit longer.
and you don't need to remove any hoses with the car running as it won't remove any trapped air somewhere in the cooling system.

if you remember tom i did fill the heater matrix through the coolant hoses with those cool little funnels you have, and when that didnt seem to help i did as mab01uk described and pulled the one hose off etc.
i must admit other than swapping the matrix i am at a loss as to why it doesnt get hot,

o yeh you did. didnt it start coming out when you tipped it down the hole but when its attached to the engine nothing happens?
