I have a Domino HT which has been built by the previous owner and have recently removed all the brake lines off my mini to sort out the rust issues on my front an rear subframes.

 

The car had a lockheed brake master cylinder which has seen better days, and I wanted to know whether people would suggest upgrading this system while still running non servo brakes.

 

From what I can see I can either rebuild this master cylinder or replace with a dual line version. I could do with deciding before I get the bits to replace the brake lines.

 

While on this topic does anyone know if dual line brakes became law on an MOT? If so which year did this come in?

They are a regulatory requirement from 1976, I don't know if it's something that would be checked in an MoT.

It will almost certainly void your insurance if you are not compliant with Construction and Use Regs, regardless of the MOT.

I would advise a careful check of the available space for a dual circuit master cylinder, as I have vague memory that space is tight in a Domino. However, I would definitely recommend a dual circuit system, with the bulkhead mounted PRV, as being the safest option.

I'm pretty sure it will be designed to take a dual circuit master as they started production in the 80's
