Looking to fit my cooper freeflow and single box maniflow system (and inlet manifold obviously!) on a 998. I have done a lot of reading but there seems to be a 50:50 split on whether to go for an AAU or AAA as a starting point. It will take a trip to the rolling road but looking for something to get it in the ballpark before I go. What have people found works? Or do I get both and play?

Second question is, did they fiddle with needles on new carbs dependant on model or were they all just dumped in? The reason I ask is that I have a load of needles from MGBs and I think there may be an AAU or two in there. Obviously don't want to use it if there were different profiles across models.

We found both worked, sisters runs AAU with a k&n filter in original airbox. No problems

Mine runs AAA with same setup, just had a flat spot with the AAU on mine.

Only road testing under load will tell..get both and try them, set CO to 2.5-3.0 at idle and eventually try a thick oil in the carb for further enrichment under acceleration.
