Cheers rob

Main thing is the Diff ratio, but interchangeable for a mini rod type assembly with a few mini bits, Have a MG Metro Based Block in mine.

Not even that on some versions.

The differences you may find:

Final drive ratio, clutch operation (cable), starter (pre engaged solenoid is at a slightly different angle, engine breather oil separators (can foul the fan and horizontal brake master cylinder). There are some plumbing differences, particularly with pre 90's Minis, no Metro had a bypass hose or separate heater take off on the head, they'll be there, but undrilled or blanked off. The same can be true of other bolt holes for engine mounts, but they are usually present if they were just unused. Other subtle differences include carb linkages, gear selector rod length, speedo drive gear ratios.
