Hi TMF,

This is my Mini. It's a 1991 Rover Mini Mayfair. It's in cracking condition and the only rust on it is a small bit under the near side front headlamp and two tiny bits on the rear valence.  It is a ex-Granny car, which she used to go to the shops and back.  Its had a new bonnet/grill after she stuffed into a wall  >_<  I'm only 16 so have got about a year until I can start driving, but the Mini will still be used by my parents and I'll learn to drive in it! I'll be going for a (EDIT: Euro Style) retro look, and I want to convert the brakes to 7.5" so I can run the 10" Cooper S reversible rims. This is what the car was like when we bought it, bar the AA badge which I added.

Nice looking car and the reverse S rims will look sweet. I have the standard S rims on my clubby and they look sweet. Tell your folks the disc conversion will help the car to stop a lot better than standard drums.

Thanks guys.  At the moment its got 8.4 discs, but 10" wheels wont clear the AP calipers as I'm told.

As it happens there's an old MK1 down my road, its been sat for years, but I may see if the guy wants to sell.  It would help my retro-look I would like, especially if its got a grill and smaller discs.

An update on this!  Going for a bit of a euro/Jap look now, but still retro cool!  Inspired by Chris1992's Mini, I sticker bombed the front valance.  I found an old train station stick, so I put that round the towing eye I added.  Also added the old type numberplates, which look alot better IMO.  Trailing eBay one night, I came across the old Union 76 aerial balls, I think its pretty funky.  I love Lego, so I started on a parcel shelf, needs to be finished really.  I made a fuel bib at school, which adds to the Jap style I like.  I've sanded a boot as well to rust it!  Finally got a Desmo roof rack cheap locally, so that will go one in the near future.  Next up is wheels, probablly 10x6 Wellers.

Look's good, Good ideas too, I like the petrol only dymo lable and lego parcel shelf, I think leaky was going to make one for his clubby.

IMO I think a black grille would look better than the chrome one

Just an Idea could you put some sticky tape on the boot in the shape of the red sun ( like the sticker on the valance) so that that area rust less quickly and has the shape in rust?

Not usually what I like, but I actually quite like the little touches you're doing. Looks to be in nice condition too

I'm should be getting a van one in the new year, which will be powder costed black.  The Rising Sun rust pattern is a little too Jap for me.  Thanks though.

Thanks!  She is very smart!

i like where this is going :proud: . do you now what you are going to do about arches? if your going for a jap look, arch less with a bit of camber would suit it very nicely :whistling:  clean project so far

Thanks man! Arch wise, dit depends on how wide my wheels are going to stick out. Would over to go archless though. Camber is on order.

Here's the wheels I've bought-

Are they chrome reverse rims or standard cooper s rims? If they standard you may get away without arches with camber....that's what I'm doing....:0).... Nice build by the way....;0)

Cheers James

Got my 10's on :D. Really pleased with them. They give the car a nice wide stance.

This is gonna look really good, and if you lower it and keep the std arches I think it will look cool as

Good start! More lows and some mk2 lights would look good! I agree with the above. Keep the standard arches with the little bit of poke.
