Hello,
firstly i have to admit to not having a mini I have had a few but i currently have a VW Lupo that is race spec and road legal, (just!). The reason I have come to your forum is that I am doing a bike engine conversion in to the back of the lupo, call me silly but it's a very light car and is just asking for the R1 engine dropping in. I have joined here to hopefully learn from you chaps that have already done or are doing these to your mini's, hope you dont mind.

Bloomin Nutters in Banbury!
Wilkommen! Theres quite a few bike engined motors in the project pages, have a look, and you'll probably be converted by the time you've finished reading!

Thanks for the welcome chaps. The lupo is stripped back to the shell with only the components needed to make it work still fitted! It has a full FIA/RAC approved rollcage, seat harness etc, currently has the vw brakes but fitted with high temp materials. A crazy 1 litre 8 valve all alloy engine that was on throttle bodies (but i sold them to help fund the R1 project) and produced around 100.32bhp @ 8450 rpm at the wheels. Sounded like a bike! light weight mag multi spoke wheels, custom made!! with 195/45-15 tyre fitted they still only weigh 4.7kg each. coilover suspension, fully adjustable bump/rebound with remote resevoirs. I cant remember the rest of it! Hopefully it will be featuring a very nice rear conversion within a few months, all going to plan.. I'll keep you informed.Hello and Welcome. Race spec eh? Edited to add. oh yes, it weighs less than 500kg.

I am happy to say that I'm not one of those! I am originally from Leeds but moved to banbury around a year and half ago. The car is really good fun to drive, although it does occasionally try to kill me but thats nothing a set of yoko sticky tyres wont sort. When i was thinking about the project i have to admit i did consider the 1.8 turbo engine from the audi tt but then common sense took over and the idea of fitting a heavy steel lump up front didnt seem like the sensible thing to do. So here I am ready to cut the rear end out!!! Its all marked out and I'm building the parts pile ready to build the space frame. I'll keep you all informed once i started hacking the floor out.. :'(
