I collected my 1962 Austin Mini Van the other day.

Its got a long MOT left on it so I'll be using it with light rolling restoration for the remainder of that, and then I'll take it off the road and rebuild it all properly.

Any comments/suggestions welcome.  I want to get the history of the car so I can find out original colour etc.  Log book says "grey" and previous owner sprayed it in grey primer. My plan probably is to have it sprayed Old English White with a black roof, but I'll see what the original colour was 1st.  I plan to keep it fully standard and restored to how it would of been back in 1962.  Should be a fun long term project.

It had 1 previous owner according to DVLA till early this year when the guy I got it from bought it.   I then bought it off him making me the 3rd owner.   Assuming all the owner history is correct?   i have a feeling it was some sort of barn find.

Nice base for a project there. That grille has to go though!

yeah the grille will be gone this weekend!  It does appear that one bit of it has been cut out for the bonnet release catch though :(   i'll see what it looks like once removed.

Welcome back to mini ownership :)

I would apply for a heritage certificate

Looking forward to seeing this, don't let any tiles drop on that smooth roof!

well the spending has started ;-)

ordered some MK1 door seals (since they are as good as non-existant) and stuff to do an oil change.

Ugh.... look what someone in the past has done to it....

taking off the grille hasnt revealed a nice van frontend unfortunatly.   I'll keep it like this though and put some chicken wire behind to stop stones etc getting through until I redo it.
