lucus reversing lamp

Hi, i've got an old lucus spot lamp that i want to use for reversing. How do i convert the fitting for a modern bulb or where can i find a 21w old style one. Have seen these done loads before but dont know how to change it. Cheer AC

never heard of a conversion for them.

I've also heard that after 64-ish, you can't fit them. Double check on that though 'because I'm not sure on the exact year.

I've got one fitted to my 1980 mini and it's ok - believe it to be post 84 that it's not allowed - you can still get the bulbs from moss!

Nope. You've seen Lucas reverse lamps used as reverse lamps. It would be tricky to convert a spotlamp to the same type and not just because of the bulbholder. The lamp body is completely different as the real thing is designed to mount through the rear of the housing and not through a bracket at the bottom. The lens pattern is different as well.

Not permitted on cars '86 onwards as it doesn't meet the standard.

Maximum wattage for an unapproved reverse lamp where it may be fitted is 24 watt.

Mine have the rear mounting(bolt straight out the back), but it has a 48w bulb i need a 21w i think.
