I'm sick of the standard massively long belts ... Does anywhere do an inertia belt kit ? Otherwise can I fit a set of fronts in the back ?

Latter MPI minis ('96 onwards) had inertia belts in the back, I'd look for someone breaking one.

Securon 257 will fit the rear and are retractable, I've got one fitted to mine. :)

thanks for the replies guys .

my mini is a 1990 model and has 3 point static belts.

will inertia belts just mount on there shoulder point as a straight swap or will I need to strengthen the mounting points in any way ?

257 ? I can't find that... Will the 254 do ?

Can I take it any adjustable angle generic inertia belt that mounted to the b post will do ?

Surely if the car has an existing 3 point static belt in the back I can just do a direct replacement with a suitable inertia belt ? Someone suggested I need to strengthen the parcel shelf ?

Contact Somerford Mini with the exact details of your car. Get some modern and therefore you know safe (not been in an accident and stretched) and working mechanism.

Parcel shelf? I mounted mine to the original top mount point, which is already tough as.

My bad, you're spot on. It's a 254 not 257 but I was close! :P

I'd suspect that any adjustable angle belt should fit the bill, yes. But at £30 I went with a new one I knew would fit.

In my experience Securon belts are garbage.  In a daily they last 2 years before they wear out, I've had loads but will not be getting any more.  Get belts made to your specification, or buy off the shelf, from FDTS in West Byfleet for around the same price as Securon.  Incidentally, the guy who owns Securon gets his special order stuff and other custom work made by FDTS too.

Mine should be fine then, I take a passenger in the back about once every 4 months. At 2 year life for daily use that means I won't need to replace it for about 243 years
