Engine Oil!

Well, my mini special has I believe been sat for 17 years :o I think that's why it means by dvla!! The car has no engine oil in at all is this a bad thing or good that the oils was removed! I can't see any signs of rust at all in the engine!! Is it a good thing that its ha no oils or bad:/

Depends where the car was stored, in a dry warm garage or a damp shed? if the air is damp then theres a chance the internals could have picked up some surface rust. Is the engine siezed ? and do you intend rebuilding it or were you thinking of adding oil and trying a restart? I would think most of the seals would be hardned by now so would need work

I have no clue where it was stored for the past 11ish years but for 6 outside a recycling plant!! I was wanting to see of I should add some oil to it and see of I can get it going!!

You have nothing to loose by trying it, but prime the oil pump through the releif valve hole and be prepared for lots of smoke and the odd leak or two!
