Hi-Lo's does indeed make it a doddle (if wrestling with oily greasy rusty things is ever a doddle).

You won't need to go to war with the cone compressor - after that everything else is quite straightforward.

Trickiest part is getting the new cones in, as they are usually a bit bigger than the old squashed ones

You'll most likely need to remove little rubber buffer

(under the top arm)- one screw

and the top arm itself (a nut, bolt and a set screw) to get the new cone into

the subframe tower.

Youll need to remove the top arm to get the old cone out also, trust me the gap is too small if the arm is not removed! Its not a difficult job, just fiddly and it helps to have an extra pair of hands to hold things in place etc.

Nope it will need to come out. The hi lo's do make things easier though. Just done all of this on my Clubby.

I got the old donuts out without removing the arms, not easy but easier than getting the arms out in my mpi! Had to wreck the donuts with a grinder and power hacksaw but they were scrap anyway, no way you'd get new ones in though glad I fitted springs

Most things can be removed with the tools of doom that you mention - It's getting the new ones back in that has always proved difficult for me... :-)

that's my point, as I was fitting springs and didnt need the arms out to get the springs in I could butcher the old donuts out! Don't think I could get new donuts in without removing the arms. On the MPT there's loads of stuff in the way to get the arms off though so butchery was easier for me.
