Right, over the weekend i was in a convoy of minis with 1330's 1293's 1380's, fast cars.
Id like to improve the performance from my 93 sprite 1275.
It has a HIF 38 as standard.
i have put RC 40 exhaust from standard manifold back usin one of them magic down pipes.

Im thinkig a HIF44 will make a improvement but am i right ?
Im also thinking fitting a lcb will also make a difference am i right there too ?

Other than boring out and new pistions is there anything else

I would love to have a 1330 or similar but i simply dont have the money for the parts to make it work

I know it probably comes up alot but i can never find anything with the search on the webside

Just bolting a HIF44 on shouldn't really make any difference, apart from costing more money in petrol if it's not setup right.

LCB and alloy inlet manifold would be a good start.

But then your moving into more expensive stuff like head work, cam and re-bore stuff.  Which always gets expensive, as you'll always think, well, while I've got the head off I might aswell take it out and put a new cam in, then you end up getting it rebored too, :D

I think ill wait around for luck to find a 1380 in a cheap project and save for a engine upgrade in years to come

A stage 1 kit  manifold, filter, needle, LCB etc will set you back about £200 new, and budget for about £80 for a rolling road session to set it up for you.

If you are on a budget then, you could try used parts, except for the gaskets and air filter.

I got about 20% more out of the 35 (39->47 bhp at the wheels).  It doesn't sound a lot, but it feels more lively.

1330 is better than 1380, as at 1380 the block is at maximum effective over-bore and cannot be re-built again without a lot of cash being spent on it.

I had the same spec in my last mini and I fitted a stage one. Definitely budget for a rolling road but you'll probably be only looking at 55bhp max.

This engines are held back by a mild cam. In hindsight I might have fitted new yoko tyres all round rather than fit a stage one.

I fitted the minispares stage 1 kit by the way and had it rolling roaded at minispeed in Surrey.

The engines are really held back by the poor cylinder head and its inability to flow a decent amount of mixture. A better cam won't help there. Once one has a better head the cam can then be changed to allow the better head to work at its optimum.

And to be Honest you say you would like a 1330 well a 1275 vs 1330 in the same state of tune will be very little in terms of BHP as Cooperman has already said its all about the head and its ability to flow more and then a better mix of parts to work as a package to produce the power. A HIF44 will do nothing for you at present,
