I've read countless threads over the past hour, some incredibly old. However I am still a little unsure..

Now I've finally got a dashboard in place, I wish to improve the dial illumination. The poor orangey glow from behind is just crap.

I have the three dials infront of the driver (see picture below) and I really fancy a blue backlight!

I think I need 501 wedge LED's, but I'd love for someone to confirm this and link me to a suitable product. Is it a case of just removing the old and pushing in the new?

Some other threads said that some LED were worse at emmiting light?

would love to hear from anyone who has done this.

Many thanks

Jack.

correcto, mine are a lovely crisp blue/white,

501 LED's one of the better simple upgrade you can do, not all 501's have the same sheething though so just make sure there not too fat :P

Have you got a pic of your dials, Hegnirst?

I'm in a similar quandary over a new speedo and a refacing plus bright lights might save a lot of ballache :D

Dont suppose you could link me to a product that would be a direct swap?

it also depends on what guages they are, as mine are genuine 1275gt clocks and they use 501's, the other type they go in a holder that twist in the gauges

I got some 'white' LEDs to go in my clocks. They went straight into the bulb holders, I thought they would look good and be brighter but they are not as bright as the filament bulbs and I don't think they look very nice. The slightly blueish white light just doesn't look right in the car being a classic so I'm going to swap them back. I got them off of eBay, they're okay but not as good as I expected them to be.

I have to be honest here and say I have no idea, what who why or where the dials are from. The best I can offer is a picture of them, for someone with more knowledge to identify.

Have you got any pictures/links to the LED's you used?
