Just wanted to know if all the bolts are different, as I thought that the bolt from the bar to the block was different to that used for the bar to the bulkhead, and that those used on the lower bars were different to bolts for the top steady. According to minispares (as they only sell the one bolt), they were originally different but you can use this bolt in the bars and it'll be fine.

Not that I don't believe Minispares, I just wanted to double check before I get bolts that are too long :P

Here's the bolt on Minispares:

Ahh right, so for the bottom one its the 3/8" UNF 2.25" long for into the bulkhead and the block (or wherever it connects), and the top is 5/16" UNF 1 7/8" long for into bulkhead and the block.

Thanks :)

No the bottom 3/8" one is for each end of the forward facing steady bar, between the bracket bolted to the gearbox and the subframe welded bracket.

The top steady uses the 2 long 5/16"UNF bolt each end, one into the block thru he bracket and bush, the other at the bulkhead end.

The bushes are all the same, top and bottom, but you don't fit the steel sleeves to the bottom, which explains why the bolts are a different diameter. And, you really do need the 3/8" bolts at the bottom.

When checking stuff like that, it is best to go to the Somerford Mini web site, as they have exploded diagrams of everything, which helps to clarify such things.

Yes you do have a sleeve on the bottom steady, the rubber part is the same but the top steady has sleeve 21A1108 and the lower steady sleeve 31G1085.

if you are changing the top steadies, then I would recommend the later one piece metalastic version p/n KKF101320
