Hi

I have a 93 mini cooper it has 12 x 5 Performance alloys on it, i know these are not the original alloys for the car but they were on it when I bought it many years ago.Anyway the story goes that my 19 year old son has it now and some how he has managed to buckle the rear alloy so now when it runs on the rear drum you get a rubbing sound that increases with speed.

Just wondered if some one out there had a spare one of these kicking about as I then could use the one I have as a spare.

I know these wheels are a euro import and are no longer available. I know I can have this wheel straightened but it would be nice to find another wheel.

kind regards

Martin

to be honest it sounds like you need 5mm spacers at the back because wheels are rubbing on the dampers or the radius arms

Hi

Have tried fitting new drums to both wheels but still get the rubbing, then tried adjusting brake shoes but still get the rubbing. The reason I am blaming the allow wheel is because it was on the front originally and once it was put on the rear the problem started. Not very mechanically minded so any suggestions are gratefully received.

Cheers

Take the wheel off and check to see that the drum will rotate without any rubbing or 'graunching'. Then adjust the rear brakes. Re-fit the wheel and see if it spins OK.

You may need spacered drums on the rear instead of the standard drums

Cheers james
