If its getting too hot even on tick over then I suggest you've got your plumbing wrong or might need to look at getting rid of unnecessary pipework.

Have you used the bypass pipe at the rear of the block (top left of the block next to the exhaust manifold)? If you have then I suggest blocking that off. or at the very least putting a restrictor in the pipe (a small bore insert i.e. 5mm inner diameter) this will restrict the flow around that pipe which unless you are running a heater matrix you really dont need it. I got rid of the pipe that runs from the thermostat to the back of the engine (where the bypass pipe is) but I had bespoke parts made to do it.

You can buy the parts needed from K-tuned:

Thermostat block off (if removing the pipe that goes from it to the rear of the engine):http://k-tuned.3dcar...cket_p_174.html

Bung for heater outlet on block: http://k-tuned.3dcar...-Head_p_39.html

The only difference between the k-tuned stuff and mine is that my thermostat plug has an inlet from the expansion tank that ensures when filling the system with coolant that it flows both sides of the thermostat, therefore not requiring the engine to be up to temp to open the thermostat and flow the water around the whole system. You can see what I did in my build diary - cant remember where but its in there, if you need me to find I can just let me know.

If you are still getting a high temp after this delete then you have plumbed it wrong. If you have any photos or a description of how you plumbed it then that would help to try and see where there might be a problem.
