hi, just a quick question,
am in the process of an engine build and i am reusing the cam (MD276). as the original followers are already settled to the cam should i use the old ones or can i replace them?
cheers

If they don't show any signs of spalling or cracking and aren't dished then put 'em back....if they do, then the cam is probably not 100% either, might be worth replacing it too while it's all apart.

Use NEW ones
The followers take a lot abuse and wear quickly, New ones are cheap so why reuse.
That's what I think anyway.

I'm not sure I'd fit new followers to an old cam either (unless I had to)
I think unless they were flaked, cracked or pitted then i'd either leave them or fit new followers with a new cam.

this is what bugged me, i heard new followers to an old cam can cause premature wear on the cam lobes.

How many miles has the cam/follers done as a pair? I would use them again if low mileage as they would be worn to the lobe thats if you have them numbered and matched to a lobe, if you dont have them numbered fit new, but if they had covered 50k miles I'd fit a new cam and folowers
