Trevor, our 1275GT is through to the final 10 of a Facebook competition where the prize is for the winning Mini to be on the MINI UK stand at Goodwood Festival of Speed.  It's my brother-out-law's ode to Trevor and my 7 year old nephew would love Trevor to win as he's car mad and really wants to go to Goodwood.  
 
For those of you who don't know, Trevor is an early standard 1275GT built in April 1970.  He has never had a full restoration, just having work done as and when he needed it.  He is not a showy show car, as the majority of his paint is original and over the 42 years and 63,000 miles he has picked up a number of dents and scratches.  However, we think he's lovely as he is, warts and all and also his lovely sticker that he still has from a French garage who repaired him when his original owner took him to Portugal and he broke down en route.

Obviously, we would love him to win but there are 9 other lovely Minis in the competition, so quite understand if you want to vote for them.  However, if you are particularly a square nose fan, he is the only square nose in the competition.   If any of you would like to vote for him, we'd be very grateful.

You are funny!! Facebook is great! It's only really a problem when people post hourly status updates about their marriage breakdowns, call work to say they're sick and then post about their shopping exploits etc. If it wasn't for Facebook, I wouldn't have found Montgomery, my Montego. I saw a post at the end of a thread on the Maestro & Montego Owners Club Facebook page about someone knowing of a Countryman in excellent condition that might be for sale. I messaged the person who made the comment, he got told of his mate who had Montgomery and the rest is history! .

I use my Facebook mainly to update my car friends/bore my non-car friends about what my cars have been up to!

The winner of the Goodwood Festival of Speed competition revealed...sadly it was not Trevor the 1275GT.......but congratulations to Ian Brooks and his Mini, Bert.

Bert is now sitting in pride of place at Goodwood Festival of Speed on the MINI Stand. Check out some pics and read his Ode to Bert.
