I'm looking at new door hinges as there is massive amounts of play in mine, especially the top ones.

What do people recommend?

Minispares budget ones?

Genuine ones?

Or Minisport do a light weight alloy one?

Or any other suggestions?

Buy genuine ones. A lot of the pattern ones are a different thickness. Been there with that noise on Project Erm and caused me a whole heap of issues.

Thanks for such a quick reply!

I suppose I should just bite the bullet and pay the money!

We had bought some of DSN's lightweight hinges and they are sexy. That is when we found out the issues with the pattern hinges.

As long as the hinge hole is not badly worn that would be the way forward.

Yes, this is what i have done with mine... Very easy to do, just dose them with a bit of plus gas or similar and should come out pretty easily ;D

EDIT - although i had my hinges off and in the vice...

The bottom ones have tightened up well, but there's wear in the top ones!

Looks like I need a pair of top hinges!

Are these no good then? I was considering getting some myself... little point having light weight doofers all over the place and having heavy ol hinges if i can do away with them

Are the lightweight hinges not for alloy or grp doors?
