folks,

 

a fellow mini owner has a newly rebult engine, he *says* it is 1310 cc with lightly machined head, but as his engine history is even more cloudy as mine, noone knows for real. He now has strange proble, up to 2500 rpms the engine is like pig to drive, once past thos mark ir revs like stink. Before I advise him to mess about fueling (just to try my selection of needles, that is), I wanted to see what distributor he has. I did found only this stamped label, see pic:

I can only see 42628 and 42630...

Could it be Lucas 65 DM electronic? If yes, I was to find what curve it had.

Lucas 65DM4 distributors have a module on the side and unless modified would have a standard advance curve for a 1275, its important to know the full spec of the engine like what cam is fitted, If it has a 286/296 then it wont be very good at those sort of revs, he's going to have to come up with some specs of the rebuild
