There should be 2 screw holes in the upright bracket which screws on with 2 self tappers standard on the inner wing, this provides the earth point so when the solenoid is energised by the small 12v feed in from the ignition switch it make the circuit between the 2 large terminals one 12v in and out to the starter.

ok,
so i did a bit of measuring untill my battery died on my multimeter, tomorrow ill be sourcing a new battery for that.
but before it died i measured between the 2 brown wires arriving at the fuse box and the 12volts at the solenoid,
and when i do that i have 12v on the meter,
when measuring on the brown wires at the fusebox and earthwire from engine i have nothing... still baffeled about that ? would it suggest a cable failure ?
tomorrow i will mount the new solenoid.

so i mounted a brand new solenoid,
connected it up, and mounted it on the wing. ive connected it up properly i think, looked at a picture from one of my mates to get the wires right, but know i have one connection that isn`t used on it, its the one on the other side of the red/white wire. ? on his picture it doens`t seem he has anything connected
when i went then went into the car to try and start it, i first tried the lights, they worked. and the wipers worked instantly with them...
and i can alter there speed with the stalk, but nothing else works, even not turning the starter over.
one step ahead, 2 backwards. been thinking a just building a new loom, might cost a bit but will give me reliable electrics
