Is there such a thing as free phone unlocking?

My wife has a blackberry that's decided to die today, so it's being sent back, prob be away a week or so.

In the mean time I'm trying to find her a phone, like most hoes we have a few old ones, the only o I can find with a charger is an old Samsung gt15500 but its locked to 3 and her sim is virginmedia.

I've looked online and there are youtube links etc that say free but lead you to sites where they want £'ss with no guarantee.

So I ave to ask is t poss to unlock this handset for free or low cost, or do I need to get a handset from tesco?

Thanks

If you phone up 3,they may unlock the phone for free, however if they don't then the only way you can get a permanent unlock is to pay them the fee which if I remember correctly is usually 10-15 quid I think!

I recently got my iPhone 5S unlocked at http://cubeture.net. Pretty cheap too, only 10$. Or you can try your provider.

I'm sorry as I can't help with your problem, but I can solve another problem that your wife has, don't buy blackberrys.
