Just a heads up for those of you building your cars...if you haven't heard already.

As from 1st Jan 2014, unless you have a closed loop breather system, you will need a catch tank of at least 1 litre capacity.

I thought that was a rule already in place?

For some reason I can't edit my last post - the rule is already in place for sprints & hillclimbs, which is where I'd read it.

Also safety film on glass side windows must not be thicker than 100 microns.

These changes are for rallying.

Hmm, I'l have to have a look at the regs. For hillclimbing in 2011 I just had a half litre plastic bottle on each breather and it passed scrutineering, sounds like I'd better check if things have changed (going to be competing again next year).

This is my engine bay, with a 1l catch tank (made to my spec to meet hillclimb regs). I have a 1 inch pipe from the rocker cover and a 1/2 inch pipe from the timing cover canister piped into it with a 1 inch breather on top of it. Fully closed system and it breathes much better than it did without the 1 inch pipe into the rocker cover/ linked into the transfer case.

Arent there more MSA proposals for road rallying, e.g

standard inlet manifolds only
so no splits
or big DCOEs?

Heard this last night, probably to stop all escorts running big power

Looks nice, who made the catch tank? Sounds like I need to get one.

Do you ever run at Harewood? I should be back next year, it's always nice to run against other minis.

Here's a better picture of it from when I picked it up.

Bogg brothers in East Lutton (North Yorkshire) made it. I've used them for years for rolling road and their alloy work is superb at good prices.

I usually run at Harewood a couple of times a year, 4th August and 22nd September this year hopefully. They are both rounds in the Yorkshire speed Championship. Might do more next year though as I'm only based in York. Be nice to see a few more minis out yeah!

Ah, I wondered if it was them. I had a bad experience with Bogg Bros, I know they have a good reputation but they had my car for 6 months for an engine rebuild, and when I finally got it working properly (when I found Minimaster in Penrith who transformed the car) it turned out they had put the old MG metro cam back in instead of the new 276 I had paid for. Probably a mistake not deliberate but I was not happy.

I'll definitley be doing some Harewood next year, probably 2 or 3, and one will be the september one - I'll post something here with what I'm doing.

Yeah, you will have to let us know where you will be. Where abouts are you based, Will you be doing any other events?

I'm across at three sisters in Wigan on Sunday for a sprint if anyone local feels like a day out.

And they want to stop engines from other manufactures being used, so no more big power Red Tops in those Escorts....

As for catch tanks, many hillclimbers use things like Red Bull or Coke bottles - scrutes don't seem to mind!
