Hey everyone. New here , just grabbed a mini and slowly learning about it. I've tinkered here n there, but one thing I've noticed over the last 3 or 4 tanks is the piss poor fuel economy. It's getting about 18-20l / 100kms....about 14mpg.

The speedo is accurate ( GPS tested) , spark plugs look aright , air filter is fine. I use local 95 RON fuel.
One thing is there is a strong fuel vapour smell with the car on - outside and in cabin- almost headache inducing sometimes.
Is she running stupidly rich ?
What else can I look at ? Where do I start ?

Thanks !

Have a look under the back seat to make sure it isn't soaked with fuel.  A very strong fuel smell usually points to a leak, the tank leaks into the spare wheel well which then soaks through into the cabin.

Sounds like a leak to me, even running rich you'd struggle to get 14mpg and it wouldn't run for long like that before it sooted up the plugs. Follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the carb, definately doesn't sound good. Please sort this out before your car sets on fire lol.
