Well after you mentioned that crack I actually had a closer look... I wish I hadnt... There is a crack on that middle waterway. It runs about 4mm into the middle of the head and there is evidence that it might go about 10mm into the middle. Im going to have to speak to the machine shop because it definitely wasnt there before. Do I have a leg to stand on and is the head a lost cause now because I dont want to be out of pocket for the machine work done?

feck thats not good :/ The reply will probably be something like 'it wont be a problem the HG will seal it', and probably thats true, check all the other ways and see if theres some thickness left in the cylinder head..

Is there anything feedback from anyone about this? Im about to ring the machine shop but I wouldnt mind a few more opinions.

It's old, you can see it's old....they should have seen it!! But you can't blame them for not I suppose....

 

As an aside, it looks like it ran from a corrosion pit, and it doesn't look like the only corrosion pit on the head. Looks like that has been pitting for quite some time too.
