Hi all, I asked a few questions on here a week or so ago regarding my Speedo upcoming engine swap (metro 998 into a 1990 city e)

I have checked the engine number.The metro engine is a 907 code ( 3.44 final.drive) I have removed the plastic cog and worm gear. The cog has 19 teeth and is Orange in colour. It has the number 4 on it.

Can anyone tell me what cog/gear I need to to make the Speedo read correctly?

My mini is a 1990 city e with a 3.1 final drive although the engine is still in the car at Mo so haven't removed the Speedo drive to see what's in there.

Any advice would be gratefully received! G

It wont have 19 teeth as they didn't make one with 19, it'll have 17, and the worm drive will have 5...

 

You mini gearbox will also have a 17 tooth pinion but a 7 tooth worm...

 

Everything being equal apart from the change from a 3.1 to 3.4 final drive, unfortunately you will need to change both the worm and pinion to a 16 tooth pinion, and a 6 tooth worm...
