will you drop me a pm with prices for those bits please.  I have trawled the kitcar forums and the general concensus on there seems to be approx 85-90KG.

I planned on enlarging the sump and over filling it with oil if i was to use the bird motor, which is tempting due to the extra torque the motor produces but i want the noise and theatre of the big twin.

Next step will be to offer up the mille lump and see how she sits.

More progress.....Decided to go with the blackbird engine as its a better fit to the front of the car and has about 35 bhp more with much more torque and more suitable gearing although it is about 25kg's heavier.

The engine needs to be moved back by 100mm and up by about 40mm and to the O/S by about 80 mm for ground clearance, prop alignment and exhaust manifold clearance.

The subframe you see in the pictures is merely a support frame to see what i needed to cut out, the proper one will be done once i have the motor in its final resting place with this crud.

The gearbox (Reverse & overdrive) will require a large transmission tunnel throughout the car approx 10" high at the centre raising towards the front of the car for prop clearance and dropping towards the rear of the car to try and retain a rear seat area.

I am in need of a propshaft or propshaft yoke to fit the ford type E gearbox if anyone has one.

I have been racking my breans for a solution to this issue and i have found someone that has done it before but i am not sure of how they have done it. Do any of you guys have any ideas??

The ford Type e gearbox requires a pilot bearing on the input shaft and that needs to be built into the propshaft. The only way i can think of doing it is to have a bearing that runs on the nose cone and another bearing in the the prop end that supports the nose of the shaft.

The pictures show the prop that has already been converted for use like this:

This is how i invisage the support shaft working.....can anyone pick fault with this?

Been thinking about rear subframe / beam / diff support setup and I think I've decided on what i'm going to do. The drawings are not exactly to scale but should give a fair idea of my plans.

The mounting towers will be shortened by as much as possible whilst still retaining full suspension travel. The diff will mount on to top rail between the towers and all I need is the front subframe to butcher which I have managed to source today from an old friend that ive not seen since school! Funny ode world lol.

Steering arms will be secured by a rose jointed adjustable steering arm mounted to the framework itself. I haven't decided on angles for the steering arms or even worked out yet if it matters for bump steer purposes. I have a funny feeling that it will matter and its something I have to look at.

Comments??

I have been looking through some of my old images i have collected over the years and ive come across something i want to know more about but i cannot remember for the life of me where they came from or who did them.

Can anyone on here shed any light or point me in the right direction please.

More Progress!

Lower section of bulkhead cut to give space for generator cover & prop shaft, rear bins cut out, dash rails cut out & ground up.

Propshaft has arrived so i should now have everything to complete the driveline and get it mocked up. Steel for transmission tunnel is all ordered up so hopefuly by the end of feb i should be able to have the diff, gearbox and trans tunnel all lined up and tack welded in ready for the first proper fitment of the engine.

Picked up my spare subframe last night so all being well, by the end of this week i should be able to make a start on fabricating a jig for the front and rear subframes to enable me to accurately "splice" them together, and also create a bespoke front subframe for the blackbird engine.
