This morning I was sorting out my cranks from 1000cc to 1275cc piles.
I pulled out a crank labelled up 1000cc mini, but it had the stepped crank tail.
It has been balanced and lightened so there are no marks on it except

ESC1A

I measured the big ends and there 1.625.

the label which is hand written states
mains standard
bg standard
thrusts standard

its cross drilled on the big ends

on the crank its self there is ,s, written on it in white paint.

all my cranks have come from a mini tuning company.

how will i determine what crank it is

do any 1100cc cranks have the stepped crank tail?
do any 970 or 1071 cranks have stepped tails

Do you not have some spare bits and bobs so you can chuck it in a block with a rod and piston. Then you can measure the distance at bdc and tdc from the block face.

Some of the early MG1300 saloons (about '67?) allegedly had the S sized crank.

With a stepped crank tail for the primary gear and 2" mains then they are a big bore crank. With 1.625" big ends then it's either a cooper S or an offse ground GT crank.

What you need to do is measure the stroke, which will then give you the 'usual' cc based on a standard bore.
