Basic checks first,

Which red light? Charging or oil pressure? If its the charge light then most likely its the alternator. Check output with a multimeter, should be 13.8-14.4v ish. If its the oil pressure light then check oil levels and possibly change the oil. Otherwise its most likely fairly serious unless its only on at idle when hot.

As for lack of fuel, take of fuel pipe and blow through or replace. You say the filte is part full. Is this before or after the pump? Is it a mechanical or electric fuel pump?

More info would help people to give more detailed help and possibly save you chasing your tail on unlikely causes.

how lows your tickover ???

Is there oil in the dashpot.

give the plugs, dizzy cap and leads a good clean, plus the rotor arm, sometimes a light sanding of the arm helps

hi guys everything is brand new its a mechanical fuel pump and the filet is after the fuel pump its on the line that goes straight into the carb its the light that comes on when you start the engine up normally on all minis alternator is working fine as the engine speeds up when i put the lights on? tickover does seem to be low it idles? revs go up and then down on tick over as i have just noticed at lights the dashpot i filled it up with oil the other day. i have put new oil in the engine and i have had the tappets re tightened and set would this make a problem? the plugs and etc are all new and its a electronic ignition system i have had fitted.

maybe mixture slightly weak and if a waxstat jet fitted once warm the waxstat is leaning off the mixture to a point that the car doesn't like

There should be two lights when you turn the ignition on. One for charging and one for oil pressure. From your description, I am assuming its the charging light coming on. It works via a diode circuit, if its on when the engine is running then something is wrong with the charging circuit. Just because the engine speeds up doesn't mean the alternator is charging properly. As for the tuning, who did it? Are you sure that the tappets were set correctly and the plugs gapped? It is unlikely someone will tell you a 'magic bullet' solution, problems like this need a systematic approach where you check the basics first and eliminate one at a time. It sounds to me like there may be a few minor issues that are combining to give you the hassles you describe. Is there anyone local who could look it over for you?

i have had a single center speedo fitted and i have only one light that comes on and i think its the oil pressure light as that what i was told it was. and if that ever comes on when i am driving i need to turn the engine of straight away? i had it tuned a few weeks back at hi-tec rolling road and i havent had any issues since with it. i have tryed my mate i usually use but i have not herd of him yet anyone else on here willing to pop over?

If only one light and it is oil pressure then your car won't be charging

Can test if its oil...left side of the engine at the front is the sender unit, I think the wire is white/brown. unplug it.

Turn ignition on, if light isn't on its  oil pressure warning

.

If its the oil pressure light then you would be taking a massive risk driving to Italy. It is possible that it is a dodgy sensor. But it's also possible that its a very worn engine about to let go. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i think it would be wise for you to find the reason for the oil pressure issue before embarking on a 2000 mile + round trip. Good luck.

That's normal, as long as its not on when the engine is running it isn't the issue here.

Edit- edited as reply came when I was typing
