I think you mean steering racks not steering houses. I will alter you title for you. Having a quick rack can be a bonus but for everyday driving then i would say stay with the standard one.

I have recently changed to a 'quick-rack'. Personally I still feel I want more response, using a normal size steering wheel

I would never want return to the standard rack unless using a tiny 10'' steering wheel.

I don't notice the steering being particularly heavy, but it does help discourage dry-steering..  which can't be a bad thing surely?

I would discourage it with massive dished wheels. they both promote snatching the wheel slightly, and you don't want to multiply the effect  I've got 10x6's with mini-spares quick rack.  only noticed poor bump steer when fitting the wheels (they came after)

I like it with the 10x6, but if you had 13x7's for example, I'd say no

The 13x6's with the quick rack - a la Sportspack like mine is notorious for tramlining. Sometimes dangerous on a worn motorway.  If I had the choice I would ditch the quick rack but I need it because it has the lock stops built in.

There is some confusion in this thread that needs to be corrected.  The Sports Pack rack is NOT a quick rack.  Quick racks have a higher gear ratio so that fewer turns of the wheel will be needed to reach full lock, but the lock is exactly the same as a standard Mini.  Sports Pack racks are at the standard gear ratio but have a reduced lock to prevent wheel scrubbing.  They each have fewer turns from end to end than standard racks, but the quick rack will still give the same turning circle as standard whilst the Sports Pack rack will not.

Alo worth pointing out that aftermarket limiters are Available to fit to standard racks as well as quick racks.

I believe Zony has a MPi rack, with the standard ratio. Mine is very much a quick-rack with the standard travel.
