Hey guys iv done some searching and I'm stuck. To many differing answers! Basically iv rebuilt my engine and seemingly have it running lovely bar one or two things. Oil pressure is my big consern though. Idle cold it will sit 85-90psi on the gauge, same for driving whilst the engines still cold. Once the oil starts to warm up the pressure drops, say I'm doing 40 at 2k the pressure will be up 75-80, slow to 30 it will drop to 60, idle can be 20-30, though when fully warm 20. I have no smoke, no knocks, I'm stuck, iv Ben hearing horror story's of people saying low hot oil pressure at idle means you have big clearances on big/main ends =[. I had to replace the oil relief valve with the ball type but this has only developed recently, about. 30 miles after fitting the new valve. I thought the balls could t stick lol and I don't wana take it off unless I know it's the problem as I have no spare washers. What should my oil pressure be? Iv done about 150 since a full rebuild

Thanks Phil

10psi per 1000rpm is usually a safe low limit.

your running a 20/50?

Haynes Manual page 23 Lubrication system says:

Oil pressure =

Running 60 lbf/in²

Idling 15 lbf/in²

Sounds like yours is about right.  :highfive:

Classic example of me over panicking!! Thanks for the reassurance, I was thinking anything less than 40 is deadly! =]
