Radio Interference!

Best Answer petehuws , 02 July 2013 - 12:48 PM

Hi J, for this purpose they're commonly known as a Suppressor, although technicaly a suppressor, capacitor, condensor are the same thing.

They normally would connect to one of the coil + connections and then ground out through it's body to some earthing point, (you can see one installed in the picture below)

There are a few on ebay but this price is a bit optimistic for what is technically just a capacitor.

Hi, just fitted a retro radio/cassette (with built in MP3 cable...jeez those things are expensive).

Radio works fine, but am gettting some interference.

Haynes says to fit 1-3uf capacitor ...any clues on where to get these, and how to fit?.

Do they need an in-line fuse holder type contraption?

thanks

J

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I also have bad radio interference - as I understood it, a condenser was specific to mechanical ignition systems, as I have an electronic system I have not got a condenser fitted. (A) am I correct in not having one fitted, and (B) would fitting one resolve my radio woes without causing any disruption to the ignition?

Thanks

Whoevers Mini that is in the pic above, replace your hose clips to Jubilee branded ones.  The fully open style above are terrible and will fail in no time.

So will fit a condenser, has anyone had any experience of the signal boosters / amplifiers that are available on the internet? Are they of any use? And if they are, can anyone recommend a good one please!

Thanks
