How is t I have paid 50% more paye this month than last, my tax code is the same, no change of car etc.

I called the tax office and held on for 25 minutes to speak to them, twice, no answer either time.

My accounts can't answer it, all they say is yes we've run it again and it's right?

Tax offices are rubbish. I had a 2 year battle with them over a return they admitted losing and then sent me a fine for late payment.

Try the PAYE calculator http://payecalculato...v.uk/PAYE0.aspx

Did you hit the amount of money your allowed to earn before being taxed? I don't pay much attention to it on my payslips but I don't start paying it for a few months then it starts showing up :/

Chances are it's a mix-up somewhere. Keep trying the tax office, provided you haven't seen a surge in income sometime in the last month, or the taxman believes you haven't paid enough previously for some reason, I can't see how this has happened. Paye is a joke anyway, I'm on emergency tax so I only receive my rebate in April of each year. Why should HMRC hold on to my earnings until then?

The question is, if the tax year is April to march, why are they taking 50% more in June, if it was an underpayment then it should b taken over the tax year starting at April, surely.
