I saw a Hornet on eBay for sale
he had the buy it now price at 4500 which I think is way too much, even though its a nice car. The bidders stoppped at 2600 and so I offered him 3150 and he rejected my offer. Said he was gonna put it on eBay again. I don't think he will ever get that much but what do you think. Do you think it is actually worh that much.

Here is the eBay Listing

Hornets tend to be more valuable (i.e. expensive) than minis go as far as i know :D

That is actually a very good buy, but make sure to ask the guy from before about the condition of rust and engine because he doesn't really give out a lot of info in the ebay ad!

well over there where minis are running around like ants.... i'm sure the more rare variants are worth more.
but im pretty sure here where both are a rare site. A car that people see and instantly know is worth more than a car that has to be explained... but whatever.

I love those Hornets, Jeff. Currently I'm doing a gas flowed 295 head for one a buddy of mine owns.
By the way, i don't know where you are in So Cal, but my best friend lives in Newbury Park, Ventura County and he has a fully prepared 1964 Cooper 'S' 1071 Rally car, which I restored and prepared in 1990 and we shipped it over in 1991. Currently it's on display until October at the Sam Paulo Museum with lots of other old British race and competition cars. The owner is Bill Rogers (tel: 1-805 498 8085). His first Mini was an 850 which he got as a 21 birthday present in 1961 when he lived in England. Give him a call if you want to talk Minis or racing aeroplanes.

Jeff that price sounds like a steal on the car if it's as nice as it looks in the pics. Congrats on finding this one. I'd love to have a Hornet myself, but I've already got too many cars.

I spend my days wandering the internet from one forum to the next. You'd be amazed at the places where you can find m posting. My mother would be embarrased.

A recent 'Freedom of Information request' by an Elf/Hornet Register member revealed:
"On the 22 August 2010, there were 327 Riley Elf vehicles with a current licence and 225 with a SORN in UK. Also, there were 275 Wolseley Hornets with a current licence and 166 with a SORN."

Rare cars and possibly a future 'endangered species'...........

We have one of the SORNed ones currently undergoing restoration and we will be looking in the £4000 region when it's finished. They are rare cars and we are very tempted to keep it ourselves!
