hi i have a strange knocking noise from the front of my mini i can drive it one day and it will be fine but the next day on the same road it will knock or clunk any ideas ?

The smart money will be on the upper engine steady bushes.
Does it do it when you depress/ release the clutch?

it doesn't do all the time iv changed the bushes about 6 months ago if i drive forward stop and reverse it clunks its been doing it on and off for ages but its gotten bad recently

I would check that the bracket at the bulkhead end hasnt snapped off.

had it looked at turns out the bolts holding the hub to the disc wore lose and the front subframe mounts wore perished
