not had this problem on a mini but had it on 2 other cars and turned out to be a drive shaft

yup ive been trying to find out whats making the grinding noise on my drivers side front wheel, break was seized on so stripped calipers and put in new seals and pistons, brakes ok but still grinding

well me and you are getting goad at cv joints jordy! infact i got a spare second hand one you can have!

CV joints for sure but before you dive into the bearing have a look at the rim of the disc IF its an old disc. Over time an edge forms as the disc wears down. This edge can be very rough and crusty.
New pads can sometimes rub on this as they try to wear the ridge down. However if there is no ridge or any sort of wear mark on the pad then i would look at the bearing.
Whip the pads out then try and rotate the disc to see if there is still a grinding noise.
