I have a retro fitted injection system on my 1293cc. Am using a standard MPI fuel tank, with correct non vented cap. I know fuel does expand more so in the recent hot weather we are getting at last.

Is it normal that when the fuel cap is removed there is a release of that pressure? I've not run the car for about 3 weeks, so any pressure is just what is being built up with the fuel sitting there, ie np pressure from internal pump.

There should be a vent at the top of the tank to stop this, accessable from the boot but quite tight in there

Yep, there is and I have routed that pipe to the same hole as my old vented tank used to just below the boot floor outside the car. May be blocked?

Check that the vent pipe is not blocked, it may happen causing the whoosh as you open the filler cap.
