Hello. My mini is in a garage at the moment with a friend. I want my car rust free for a wile it has a few problem areas but nothing too serious. Do I replace the whole panel for the problem area or is it acceptable to cut the rust out and patch the area. Any tips would be great thanks. Tom

Depends. Any partial panel replacements must be fully seam welded (MOT requirement) so the panel functions as if it is one piece, as per original. That is not a difficult thing to achieve, but it does take longer than spot or plug welding a complete panel, and needs a lot of finishing work to make the join invisible if it is in a place where it can be seen. Also, when you start removing rust, you always find more than expected.

Without seeing it, it would be difficult to give good answers. If you can post pictures of the affected areas there will be plenty of good advice from people here.
