Hi all

Just asking if anyone has a full tattoo sleeve and how many sittings it took to complete?

I have a rather non complicated design but want to get it done in a day or so, it's B&W with shading etc, not run of the mill but nether less unique to me.

I've got an appointment on Monday with an artist, what can I ask them? They can show examples of work etc but I want to make sure they can do me a good job.

I've got a full upper arm that goes down about 1/3 way of my forearm. It took 3 sittings of about 4 hours each.

I don't think they can (or are prepared to) do a full limb right around in one go because of the way the skin tightens when it scars and as it heals.

I've got 2 half sleeves, right took around 20 hours in black/grey and then another 4 hours when i had some colour added. Think I'm up to around 25 hours so far on my left arm, last session was 8.5 hours in one go and got my last couple of hours on it this afternoon.

All depends on the artist, the amount of detail, how good a job you want etc.

I wouldn't expect to get a full sleeve done in one sitting though personally.

check out 'uk top tattoo artists' on facebook for some inspiration on artists near you, that's how I found my guy and I couldn't be happier with his work :)

I have 3/4s of my arm done, which follows up on my shoulder, onto my chest and back. Took about 18 hours-ish in 4 sessions. Depends on what you want to get done. I found the dotwork i had done went a lot quicker than my solid colouring.

I have a half sleeve, 5 hours of work. Don't think you will get a full sleeve done in 1 sitting, but it depends how good the tattooist is

I have a full sleeve, it took around 12 hours with 3 sitting. The trouble is the tattooist needs a break, they don't always work in th most comfortable positions. I know I wouldn't want a tired and sore tattooist, tattooing me!

I wouldn't aim to get a full sleeve in one sitting, this is a piece of art that will be on your body for the rest of your life, no rush.

I've decided on two sleeves

One as a Celtic / Bali design.

One as a Star Wars theme.

I really want a star wars leg! starting with hoth at the bottom with some tantan's and the rebel base, then some at-at's and moving up into the sky with some x-wings, star destroyers and the death star...would be awesome!

Got mine finished off thursday night and I'm over the moon with it.

I have two sleeves chest leg a fair bit I've been getting all inked up haha for about 8 years. , the best way Is not to try and smash it all in one go but to break it up think about it carefully before you get a simple albeit unique design to you , I have a tribal tattoo on my forearm I don't so much regret it but I wish I'd got something with a bit more artistic flair, if this is first tattoo or first big piece I'd strongly recommend going for a half sleeve because however much views are changing there are still many people who take a dim view to tattoos sometimes to the point where it can close doors for you jobs wise , or prevent you from doing some things however with that said :-) i dont want dampen your spirits , tattoos are awesome !
