I have the carpet clips that hold down the main carpet but I am curious what do people use to stops the mats slipping and moving around. I have seen some modern cars with sort of grips etc. Can these be acquired for a mini.
Thanks

The grips tend to be rubbish, my mums BINI has circular velcro grips to hold the mats in the right place but they are about as much use as a choc teapot! I would look into putting something like velcro strips under your mat to see if that holds it against the carpet :)

Have the mini spares floor mat set and they still seem to move on top of the carpet even thought they fit very well. Have seen these anyone ever use them

Have tried velcro but would need it stitched to the carpet and the mat as the self adhesive stuff does not work.

Press Studs......
Do you mean line the ones used to keep the normal carped down at the edges.

I have genuine Rover mats & they come with proper fitting clips.

Any chance of posting a pic of the clips. Maybe I could see how the fit and make some.

Not got a pic at the moment but the twist part screws into the carpet then goes through holes in the mat like this....

The Maaestro had the same problem, and Rover had fitted two small angle brackets to the rear edge of the drivers side mat, which screwed to something, probably the seat mounting crossmember (haven't had a Maestro for 10 years, so can't remember exact details), to stop the mat moving forwards, which could be dangerous if it fouled the pedals. A similar idea should work on the Mini.
The brackets were only thin steel strip, maybe 1/2" wide, painted black, and I think they attached to the mat with a pop rivet and washer.
