My mini gearbox (Metro Turbo box) crunches when moving from 1st to 2nd gear.  I can engage gears while stationary though.

 

I guess this means the synchromesh has gone.

 

Is this a git to change ?

Yes it does mean the syncromesh is worn and the baulk rings, its a full Gearbox Strip and rebuild to rectify, not a problem if you have the experience to handle the job, If not give Guessworks on here a shout
