Hi there, picked up this head at a car boot sale, I know a little about it however i'm not entirely certain what all the numbers on the head mean, any info would be greatly appreciated as i want to sell it at the right price. I'm currently restoring the head so took some photos of it.

Not sure how well these pictures will come out on here so this is what the hand stamping says:

7630.

0.032.  <--Skimming maybe?

25.7.     <-- Possible valve size however the inlet ports are bigger than this so maybe it has been done twice.

17.10.89  <-- Date the work was carries out?

As you can see the head has been polished and ported.

Thanks

Joe

0.032 will be 32 thou and will likely be the skim as you mentioned.

25.7 will be the volumetric capacity of each chamber. 25.7cc.

It might have valve sizes on the head somewhere. It is usually displayed as 33/29 or something along those lines.

The last one is definitely the date.

 casting No= 12A1456

Inlet valve size=  1.0625"/26.99

exhaust valve size=  1.00"/25.4

chamber volume =  24.5

                                                                                              Model where used = 850, 998 Mini & 948 Sprite

This looks like your casting number which gives you the original spec of the head. so not an original cooper by the look of it.
