Hi guys im in the process of fitting new ball joints as per the haynes manual. The top ball joint went really well but the lower one is proving for some unknown reason a complete pain in the ass!.
I've followed exactly the handbook instructions ie leave the ball pin tension spring out and don't pre grease ect,i cannot get the ball pin to stiffen up at all,i had as many as 8 shims in and removed one by one and even with none in its still too loose!.
Any advice much appreciated..... cheers guys.

I've just been doing some of these, What I did was to remove some of the material from the bottom of the domed nut using some fine emery cloth on a flat surface until it was just right.

Though it is a bit strange that its loose with no shims at all, was it a genuine part?
