hi can somebody throw any light on the following problem.mini cooper 1992 spi, starts on the key and ticks over fine, while still cold accelerates ok.after about a minute when warmed a bit press the accelerator and it races up and down the revs and sometimes back fires in the fuel unit. If it was a carb model i would be looking at an air leak but spi i,ve no idea, i,ve checked the inlet manifold for leaks checked all the small bore suction pipes, changed the air temp sensor on the fuel unit, pulled the fuel pump out to check for leaks everthing seems fine,so any ideas anybody

sounds like it could be the throttle pedal switch, make sure its not getting fouled/restricted by carpets and check the switch itself

Try disconnecting the Oxygen sensor. It comes into play after the car reaches operating temperature but not while cold. It should run fine without the sensor. If not, something else is causing the problem.
